Just a little update to let you know what’s going on as we prepare to bring Flower Battles into Beta.
Where we are now
The new combat system seems to be running ok. No major inconsistencies anyway
There were a couple of errors and a crash, but they were quickly found and fixed.
Llarlen made some changes to the way bot are generated, which should make for more diverse opponents. That coupled with the new sprouts prompted a wipe of the existing bots (which we did yesterday). We’ll be compiling game data over this week to see where we need to make adjustments but let us know if you notice any weirdness.
I wanted to have Quest Lines added, but that whole thing is proving to be more complicated than I originally thought and trying to get it in now would delay beta by too much.
Wiping the data
We’ll give you more warning before we do it, but we’ll be resetting everything, one way or another, going into Beta.
We have three choices on how to do this and we’re still weighing the implications and benefits of each. The first option is to delete everything in the database, which would require everyone re-register. Option two is delete everything but the player accounts (basically your id, password, and email) and let you recreate your flower. Option three is similar to option two, but we reset the flowers to base instead of deleting them.
Once in Beta
We’ve locked the feature set to what’s already in and running. Any new features will have to wait until at least part 2 of Beta.
Beta part 1, will focus on balancing, adding content (more sprouts, more adventures, more items, more awards), and the layout and look of the page (a big part will be doing something to allow customization of the flower pictures).
There are two features I definitely want to add in Beta part 2 …
1) Some kind of a spy report … a way for players to get a more detailed report on opponents.
2) Actual PvP … a way to pick fights with other players.
We’ll juggle the list of other features once we get closer to this point.
Thanks for all your comments and feedback .. we couldn’t do this without you all.
