Flower Battles ~ The Road to Beta

To use a cliche … I have good news and bad news …

The bad news is we’re past the date we set in this post for getting Flower Battles into beta. (It was Feb 28th for those that don’t want to click the link and look :) )

The good news is we got a good chunk of the hard things on the task list completed!

We’ve already added :

  • Friends List / Black List
  • Awards (Achievements)
  • Ability to send messages to other players
  • Ability to purchase Light

The things we haven’t gotten finished yet :

  • Localization of dates and times
  • Rewards for consecutive days played
  • Quest Lines (fixed encounters instead of dynamic opponents)
  • New content

Right now, I’m in the middle of an overhaul of the sprouts system and changes to the combat system. Neither of which were on the original list, but I feel they’re worth the inclusion. It’s too early to give details about the changes, but I’m hopeful they’ll give you more choices to test out different strategies when building your flower and to make your choices mean something.

Once that goes live, I’ll jump on adding quest lines to Flower Battles. Each quest lines will be a series of encounters with opponents of fixed abilities (increasing in strength) connected by a common story line. I think this will be a nice contrast to the dynamic opponents found when adventuring and give a nice way to introduce unique items.

I hate to give another date and miss it … but I’m shooting to get the rest done by sometime in early April. Let’s see how close we come :)

Flower Battles ~ The Super Rewards Update

Published on: March 6, 2011

Flower Battles has been updated (Build 1925).

The main addition in this update is the option to use Super Rewards to gain Light … either through direct pay or by completing offers.

The direct pay option defaults to PayPal but there are a lot of different ways to pay, including by credit or debit card, using your phone (either land line or cell), bank transfer, and prepaid cards. The value is currently set at 100 Light = $1 USD. This may change as we balance things. We’ll also eventually offer a bonus for buying larger amounts.

The offers they present range the full gambit from surveys to magazine subscriptions to book clubs to netflix and just about everything else in between.

FPG should get some kind of income from any offers you complete, so if you’re up for it, check them out and let us know how you found the experience. As always, use discretion when supplying personal information over the internet. What these places do with any info you provide is out of our hands.
