- Wedding Scene, ‘The Princess Bride’

Well, as I write this, I am sitting on a couch in between a wedding and reception, some good friends of Mrs. Shizz and I got married this afternoon and we are both in the wedding. Can’t wait to get some food and dance my feet sore!

Anyway, the festivities of the day got my mind spinning… What about in-game weddings? No not the kind where a real life couple says their vows in-game, actually I am not even talking about characters getting married. I’m talking about the characters themselves forming long lasting bonds as they journey through Nightside together.

History shows us time and time again how close knit units of trained soldiers can function together as one entity when in combat, which can enable them to perform tasks or deeds that are borderline heroic, and surely more than one man could do on his own or even with a group that people don’t know very well.

The question for this week is this: what kind of bonuses could we give more permanent alliances, and what kind of alliances should we have set up in game for players to form?

We’ve been kicking some ideas around on this topic for a little bit, and while this list is nowhere near final, here it is nonetheless:

1) Blood-brothers
Dorje came up with this idea … where two players can ‘link’ their accounts, so that when they level, quest or run dungeons together, a ‘blood brothers presence’ buff will activate, giving the players some sort of bonus, I would say a boost to their most vital stat, say by 5% or so. Additionally breaking this bond would have severely detrimental effects on both players, perhaps a debuff that has the opposite effect that last for a month or so.

2) Guild bonus
Ok I’m making this one up on the fly :) I kinda like the idea that if an entire alliance is in the same guild (and has been for say, a month), there could be another bonus similar to the above bonus.

Obviously these ideas are rough and we haven’t made decisions about them yet, but sound off and/or add to them… We like hearing from you guys!
